I have a unique story...I'm moving my 88 year old mover and me (50) to Florida next month. My brother is paying for the move so I have a budget and was informed by my brother to get as many quotes as possible. Well today, I got a call from Jeff, the owner of Classic Moving of Tom's River, NJ who said up front he couldn't do my move, but spend 30 minutes on the phone with me offering tips suggestions about movers and the moving industry in general. He provided me with a great of helpful information, cost saving tips, things to look out for as I interview moving companies and more.
When we faced the difficult decision to move our parents out from their long time home in Manhattan, we had a lot of questions. Sue at Classic Moving was super helpful and personable. She easily communicated with every one of us and came up with suggestions and estimates for some different options.
These guys could be the best moving company around but tonight in downtown toms river 1 of their trucks blew through a stop sign and almost creamed my car.
When moving day arrived, the team was friendly, extremely professional and efficient. In fact, the doormen said they were THE BEST moving team they had ever worked with in that building. The bill was very reasonable considering there were two stops involved.
I would highly recommend them.
This company sucks don't use them. They pick up your stuff, say they're going to barge you triple then act like they're doing you a favor by dropping it down to double. On top of that after they pick up your stuff you may not hear from them for a few weeks. Me, it's been two weeks and I haven't heard anything. Despite the fact that I've called them 3 times and emailed them four plus times. This is the worst company to deal with. They're probably just stealing my things. Wouldn't know. No one answers me when I ask what the etd is.
Anyone who spends that kind of time with a person knowing full well he can't do the move is a really good guy in my book. And I can share with you from experience in speaking with over 25 companies, he is one of the good guys. Here's the best tip of all - DO YOU HOME WORK FOLKS! There are resources out there to prevent the pain and anguish we have all seen on 60 minutes about moving companies. And if you're in NJ - go with Jeff and Classic Moving. Sad he can't do my move, but eternally grateful for his time and knowledge.
We used this company twice in the past year. In June they moved us into storage and the only problem was that they didn't cover the floors as promised. In November they moved us from storage to our new home. Again, they did not cover the floors. They broke a leg off our cherry armoire and left it in the house until the furniture repair man came to pick it up. When it was picked up they gouged the hard wood floor in the hallway. I immediately called to report it. A few weeks later I called again and Jeff asked me to send pictures. I sent pictures immediately. After more calls and more pictures Jeff had the nerve to say his people didn't gouge the floor. He said our carpet installer must have done it. The carpet was installed weeks after the gouge happened. I was insulted and appalled at this. We were due a refund due to overpayment and I had to call 6 weeks after the move to remind them. Do NOT trust this company.
